"End to End via the Margins"
-the diary of a walk.

Introduction

This is a walk from Land's End to John O'Groats taking in some of the cities and rural areas of England and Scotland , starting on 29th March 2003 and taking 71 days.

The aim is to discover how the church, especially but not exclusively the URC, is responding to social and economic change and its effects on marginal and vulnerable people.

Secondary aims include;-

• Sponsorship for Christian Aid (whose week falls in the middle of the walk).
• Producing a book of prayers based on each day's places and encounters (and this website).
• The walk for walking's sake.

I hope to meet church members and others along the way, and transcribe some of what is said, maybe using a tape recorder if permitted. I'll have a list of questions (which will never be finalised) aimed to get at some of these issues.

Why walk? Walking makes it possible to be "in" the setting, to feel what the physical and social environment does to people.
